Here at Synergy one of the biggest concerns that our clients have is a loss of volume, lines and wrinkles. One of the best ways to diminish the appearance of lines, wrinkles and other signs of ageing, whilst plumping and smoothing the skin, is dermal fillers.

WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal filler is are a small injection of gel, usually made from hyaluronic acid, which fills in wrinkles and adds volume to soft tissue. They can be injected into the cheeks, around the eye or mouth, jawline and lips.

HOW DO THEY WORK?

As we get older and especially after the age of 25, our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin, both of which contribute to the youthful look. Inf act our collagen and elastin levels decline at around 2% each year and will stop producing it by the late 20s. Dermal fillers restore lost volume to your face and plump areas, as well as giving deep lines a soother appearance. It can be slightly uncomfortable having the injection but it’s not painful.  Temporary side effects are completely normal and these include swelling, bruising and redness – usually around the entry point of the injection. These usually disappear after a few days.

HOW LONG DO DERMAL FILLERS LAST?

We recommend that dermal fillers will last around 12 – 18 months but this can vary from patient to patient.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOTOX AND DERMAL FILLERS?

These are two completely different products. Botox stops the small muscles in your face from making the movements that cause wrinkles, while dermal fillers plump below the wrinkle to smooth them out.
