Volume and Lifting

The difference between a young looking face and a tired, ageing face is the loss of volume.

With the ageing process, the structural support tissues in our face change and diminish. We loose fat in the midface and accumulate it round the jowls with the result being that the skin moves downwards towards the lower portion of the face causing the face to appear hollow, thin and tired. One of the most common signs of ageing is a loss of volume to the upper and mid cheeks. This causes the cheeks to flatten and the skin to droop.

This leads to the formation of nasolabial folds (the line that connects the tip of your nose to the corner of your lips). As our cheekbones change in structure, they provide less support for the overlaying facial fat, which then starts to move down towards the lower portion of our face, causing our face to appear hollow, thin and tired.

Although facial exercises and makeup techniques can help, this only provides a small temporary improvement and won’t tackle what’s causing the loss of volume and sagging.
