Stretch Marks

Restore your body confidence with safe, efficient stretch mark removal

Stretch marks, also known as Striae, are pink, red or silvery white lines on the skin caused by rapid, excessive expansion of the skin.

The good news is that stretch marks do not cause discomfort or lead to any medical problems, but they can cause acute embarrassment and dramatic loss of self-confidence. Stretch marks are most commonly found on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, thighs or breasts and are the result of:

Rapid growth and hormone fluctuations during puberty

    Pregnancy

Rapid weight loss or weight gain

Excessive build up of muscle due to body-building

Stretch marks are caused by the skin rapidly stretching which results in the middle layer of the skin (dermis) tearing, with the deeper skin layers show through those tears. The result is distinctive red stripes that fade to a silvery white colour over time.

Some people are more susceptible than others to stretch marks, and many are lucky enough never to suffer with them despite pregnancy and weight gain or weight loss. It is unclear why some people are more affected than others, and unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. There are numerous over the counter products available, but these are not effective at eradicating stretch marks.

The good news is that if you do have stretch marks on your body, Synergy can significantly reduce their appearance by offering two treatment options; Fractora and Microneedling. You may need one of these treatments or a combination of both. During your consultation, we can assess your stretch marks and advise on the best treatment options for you.

Fractora

Fractora is a significant advancement over other stretch mark removal methods. It’s a powerful and innovative way to minimise the appearance of stretch marks and regenerate smooth, healthy, beautiful skin.

Unlike topical creams, Fractora is a resurfacing procedure that rebuilds existing collagen and generates new collagen deep within the dermis, promoting healthy skin tissue and eliminating the appearance of most visible stretch marks anywhere on the body.

Side effects include slight redness and tenderness for up to four days. For optimal results, most patients require multiple treatment sessions, depending on the scope and severity of the stretch marks. Patients with extremely severe stretch marks will see a significant reduction in the visibility of their stretch marks, but it may not be possible to eliminate these stretch marks entirely.

Microneedling

Microneedling stimulates the body’s production of collagen, which is a connective tissue that gives skin its firmness and resilience. The procedure involves puncturing the skin multiple times with tiny needles to create a ‘wound-site’ in the dermis layer, which triggers the body’s natural healing process.

When the body perceives damage in the dermis, it generates new collagen, which is then used to heal the original tear in the dermis that caused a stretch mark to appear.

The outside layer of skin is unaffected by the micro-needling procedure, allowing for the new collagen to be used solely for stretch mark healing.
